Daft Punk "Get Lucky" Case Study

This piece is dedicated to one of my all time favorite electronic dance music artists none other than the duo known as Daft Punk. Below, you can see the process of how I developed this poster from start to finish. This was by far the most fun project I've had to develop in awhile. So please enjoy.
Ideas and Concepting

When I first starting of thinking of ideas for this project, I wanted to stack it with a type of retro look. I was contemplating between somewhat of a chrome look just like the current Random Access Memories type choice or going with a more 80's VHS scanline look. But first thing first was the sketch of the infamous helmets.
First Sketch and Vectoring

Using Google Images, I traced the helmets with the closest precision possible. It turned out quite well, as I proceeded to color.
Color

Coloring the helmets was a daunting task. I wanted to maintain the look of the helmets but also give it my own twist and look. The result was far beyond what I imagined and looked fantastic.
Stylistic Versions

These were some of the first rough concepts that were originally used for the piece. As you can see I tried to mimic the kind of chrome look from the initial Random Access Memories type, but that looked too rendered. Next, I tried a more stylistic approach with somewhat of an 80's VHS vibe with offset color and scan lines. Option 2 looked great with a little fine tuning.
Final Version & Mockups

The final version came out to this with a little bit more fine tuning with the stacking of type to improve readability, as well as a little bit of glitz to add to the helmets. This final look will be used for print as well as wallpaper for iPad, iPhone, and Desktop versions. I hope you enjoyed my render, feel free to appreciate down below.
